Cosmetic Dentistry And Smile Makeovers

Having a beautiful smile can help you make great first impressions and feel confident during your everyday life. It may even be the investment you need to get ahead in your career or re-enter the dating scene. At Green Tree Dental, our cosmetic dental treatments fit your short and long-term needs, not to mention your budget. Whatever your goals are, we’ll help you to achieve them.

While every smile makeover and cosmetic experience is unique, you may find that combining some of the following options help you to achieve the results that you’re looking for:

Teeth Whitening

Erase years of tooth stain for a brighter, fresher, more youthful glow. If you smoke, drink coffee, red wine, or tea, there’s a good chance you have quite a bit of stain buildup that’s collected inside of your enamel that can’t be polished off during a cleaning. Professional teeth whitening can erase more stains than over-the-counter kits and in less time. Our dentists recommend whitening your teeth prior to other cosmetic treatments, so that your new restorations can be made to match the whiter shade of your enamel.

Dental Veneers
Also known as “instant veneers,” we use veneers to correct the appearance of teeth that look crooked, misshaped, short, uneven, or are severely discolored. The process takes about two visits to complete. Each set of veneers are hand crafted for a customized shape and design. They’re one of the most dramatic and instantaneous ways to transform how your smile looks.
Cosmetic Bonding
Have a small chip in your tooth? A mild gap in the front of your smile? Bonding is ideal when minor problems cause big flaws in your entire smile’s appearance. At Green Tree Dental, we can use it to recreate your tooth structure or fill in small atypical areas to give your smile a seamless appearance. There’s little to no preparation necessary and your tooth may not even need to be numbed.
White/Tooth Colored Fillings
Tooth decay doesn’t mean that you need a mouth full of silver fillings to correct the problem. Our experts use minimally invasive composite restorations that blend in with your surrounding tooth structure, leaving your smile healthier and beautiful at the same time. We can even change out your old silver fillings with ones that match your teeth.
Implants for Missing Teeth
Are missing teeth the underlying problem when it comes to your smile’s appearance? With dental implants topped off with a porcelain crown or bridge, we can fill in the gaps with a solution that looks and feels as great as the real thing. Implants can be used to replace single or multiple teeth (or even your entire smile with Teeth in a Day.)
Porcelain Crowns
When your tooth is damaged beyond the point of repairing it with a small filling, a full coverage crown is the best solution. Crowns cover your tooth above the gumline, protecting weak areas while also enhancing your smile’s appearance. Our digital impressions allow for the most accurate fit and less time spent between treatment appointments. They’re useful for restoring badly damaged teeth as well as on top of implants when replacing a missing tooth.

An Investment in Yourself

Making a great first impression is always important, especially if you’re looking to start a new career, get a promotion, or are planning for the wedding of your dreams. Not a detail goes unnoticed: your hair, your clothes, your waistline…but your smile is an accessory that you’ll wear every day for the rest of your life.

Feeling great about the way your teeth look will help you feel comfortable showing them off more often. Studies show that the more a person smiles, the friendlier they appear and the better impressions that they make. Some research even suggests that people with whiter, straighter teeth are usually more likely to have higher salaries. Take that information as you want, but we think that investing in your teeth is a great way to enhance your lifestyle!

Invisalign® Clear Aligners

If you’re wanting straight teeth but don’t want to deal with metal brackets and wires, Invisalign could be the answer. Invisalign is an aligner therapy that gently pushes your teeth to their desired location using custom-made clear aligners. The great thing about Invisalign is that the aligners are discreet so people may not even notice you have them on!

Cosmetic Dentistry and Smile Makeovers FAQs

What is cosmetic dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry focuses on enhancing the appearance of the smile through various treatments and procedures that improve the color, shape, size, and alignment of teeth.
A smile makeover is a comprehensive treatment plan that combines multiple cosmetic dentistry procedures to achieve a desired aesthetic result, customized to the individual’s unique needs and goals.
Common cosmetic dentistry procedures include teeth whitening, dental veneers, dental bonding, dental crowns, orthodontic treatments (braces or clear aligners), gum contouring, and dental implants.
The duration of a smile makeover can vary depending on the complexity of the case and the specific treatments involved. It can range from a few weeks to several months, depending on individual circumstances.
Most cosmetic dentistry procedures are relatively painless, thanks to advancements in dental technology and anesthesia techniques. Patients may experience minor discomfort during or after the procedure, but it is usually manageable with over-the-counter pain medication or prescribed by the dentist.
The longevity of cosmetic dentistry results depends on various factors, such as the type of procedure performed, oral hygiene practices, lifestyle habits, and regular dental care. With proper care, many cosmetic dentistry treatments can provide long-lasting results that can span several years or even a lifetime.
Yes, cosmetic dentistry can improve both the appearance and function of your smile. Many procedures not only enhance aesthetics but also address functional issues such as misalignment, gaps, or bite problems, improving overall oral health and functionality.
In most cases, cosmetic dentistry procedures are considered elective and not covered by dental insurance. However, there may be exceptions for certain restorative treatments if they are deemed medically necessary. It’s advisable to check with your dental insurance provider to understand coverage options.
When choosing a cosmetic dentist, consider their qualifications, experience, before-and-after photos of their work, patient reviews, and the range of treatments they offer. It’s also important to schedule a consultation to discuss your goals and ensure a good rapport with the dentist.
Yes, many cosmetic dentists utilize advanced digital technology to provide a preview of the expected results. Using computer simulations or 3D imaging, they can show you a visual representation of how your smile may look after the proposed treatment plan.

First and foremost, Dr. Laos is an artist of the highest degree. I’m scheduled to get new crowns to improve my smile and he’s not only looked at the color but the shape each tooth should be and so much more. I’ve never felt so confident in a cosmetic/plastic surgeon/dentist and I’ve seen too many to count here in Boise and the DC area. I don’t write reviews often, but these guys went above and beyond. Dentists are notorious for trying to squeeze money out of you. This is not the case with this company. Everyone from the front desk ladies, to the wonderful lady who cleaned teeth, to the dentist were all very polite, kind, and professional. They all demonstrated an incredible level of knowledge in their trades and engaged in conversation. They cleaned and checked my teeth in a timely manner, and I left without them saying I needed to do a million things to my teeth. I keep my teeth in good condition, and left without any fillings needed to be done. These guys are awesome and perhaps more importantly honest, which is so hard to find these days. Thank you guys. You guys have my loyalty and trust.

Smiles that are built to last

We offer the most innovative dental solutions to meet your individual needs and lifestyles, no matter your age.

In our modern society, many of us are unhappy with the way our smile looks, be it crooked teeth, discolored teeth, and chipped teeth or misaligned teeth cosmetic dentistry is a solution to all these imperfections.

“Cosmetic dentist” seems to be a buzzword these days among dental practitioners. Because come to think of it, who isn’t a “cosmetic dentist”? All dentists, be it a general dentist or specialist would be doing work with high regards to the cosmetic side of dentistry, and not merely restoring the dentition back to health. As for the recognition of the title, some countries do not acknowledge it. However, there are dental professionals that promote themselves as cosmetic dentists.

The Greek origins of the word “cosmetic” mean jewel, jewelry or adornment and therefore implies something that is fake or human-made. Going further, one should be able to tell when someone has had cosmetic dental treatment as it does not look natural. Instead, the meaning of “aesthetic” derives from a Greek word meaning the feeling and apprehension of nature and organic formations. Henceforth, aesthetic transformations are those that aim to mimic and recreate view, aka natural human appearances. That means that cosmetic dentistry seeks to give the patient the best natural-looking result in creating an improved, but seamless transformation.

Now, what does cosmetic dentistry includes? It has, in fact, a vast range of treatments and procedure protocols depending on patient’s need and wants. For example, Patient came in an emergency with a fracture customized metal post and crown. As a dentist, the first instinct would be to investigate the history, the cause, and the possible diagnosis. After that, it’ll be followed by a consultation with the patient at the chairside. While there are usually various means to restore a tooth back to shape, the dentist needs to discuss the case thoroughly with the patient so that misunderstandings do not occur.

The aspects that can be discussed regarding the cosmetic side of the teeth would be the shape, shade, size, alignment of the tooth in regard to the dental arch and opposing teeth, etc. It might sound simple, but the genuinely competent and professional dentist might spend up to decades to refine the craft of restoring teeth back to natural form. This is even to the point where it is invisible that the tooth has been modified synthetically and the differences cannot be evaluated quickly by a layman.

Teething Whitening

One of the most cost-effective and accessible means that the general public would opt for is dental bleaching. Whitening, or “tooth bleaching,” is a universal cosmetic dental procedure. While there are a lot of whitening options that are available, including over the counter products, dentist-supervised treatments remain the suggested procedures for lightening discolored teeth. Bear in mind that cosmetic dentists do not necessarily conduct those procedures in the dental office.

They can act as consultants and authority in providing the right recommendations for products such as dental bleaching so that the patient does not harm himself/herself in the process. Cosmetic dentists should be able to guide you through what is best suited for you after a thorough analysis of what your oral conditions are and what are the desired results that you are seeking. There has been a rising trend in this field as cosmetic or esthetic interventions have grown in popularity in recent years.

Bonding

Another procedure that is commonplace in cosmetic dentistry is bonding. Bonding is a process when the enamel-like dental composites are added on to a tooth’s surface, sculpted into shape, hardened and then polished.

Veneers

If you’re active on social media, in particular, Instagram, you’ll notice many people with those porcelain teeth and perfect smiles. Perhaps you even wonder to yourself “how do I achieve that?” The simple answer is veneers. Veneers are those super-thin, custom-made porcelain laminates that are bonded directly to the teeth. They are an alternative for closing gaps, enhance the shape, or alter the color of teeth that do not respond adequately to whitening procedures. In the more significant part of most cases, tooth reduction is necessary for excellent results.

Cosmetic Dentists

If there’s a tooth decay which requires filling it’s best to have someone with years of experience to recommend the best product to restore that cavity. When people’s appearance is most affected, that’s aesthetic dentistry in working.

Indeed, the field of cosmetic dentistry has progressed by leaps and bounds. What cosmetic dentists can achieve today is quite a feat. For example, modified soft tissue grafting technique that utilizes particulate bone graft to support donor connective tissue as a means to reduce dead space, increase contact between soft tissue graft and blood supply, and achieve predictable esthetic and harmonious root coverage in areas of recession over prominent roots.

While there are numerous recommendations regarding restoration placement, preparation design, and even polymerization technique, current research indicates that restoration longevity depends on several variables that may be difficult for the dentist to control. These variables include the patient’s caries risk, tooth position, patient habits, number of restored surfaces, the quality of the tooth–restoration bond, and the ability of the restorative material to produce a sealed tooth–restoration interface.
