ROOT CANAL THERAPY in Boise, Idaho
Benefits Of Root Canal Therapy
There are three main reasons why root canal therapy is good for your oral health.
At Green Tree Dental, we provide gentle root canals to relieve your discomfort, get rid of the infection, and save your tooth. Many patients are concerned that root canal treatment will be painful, but the fact is it’s a common procedure that’s as routine as getting a filling. Don’t let the myths floating around about root canals scare you away from taking care of your wellbeing. Our team can get your dental health back to great condition!
Why Root Canal Therapy?
Root canal therapy, also known as endodontic treatment, is a dental procedure performed to treat problems with the innermost part of the tooth called the pulp. The pulp contains nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissues. When the pulp becomes infected or damaged, root canal therapy may be necessary. Here are some common reasons why root canal therapy is performed
Untreated dental cavities can progress deep into the tooth, reaching the pulp. The bacteria in the decayed area can cause infection and inflammation, resulting in pain and sensitivity. Root canal therapy is performed to remove the infected pulp and save the tooth from extraction.
Accidents or injuries to the tooth can lead to fractures or cracks that extend into the pulp. Bacterial entry into the pulp can cause infection and inflammation, necessitating root canal therapy.
Deep Dental Fillings
Large or deep fillings that are placed close to the pulp can irritate and inflame the pulp tissue. If the inflammation persists or progresses, root canal therapy may be needed to alleviate pain and save the tooth.
An abscess is a pus-filled swelling that forms at the root of a tooth. It is usually caused by an untreated infection in the pulp. Root canal therapy is often required to remove the infection and prevent its spread to the surrounding tissues.
Severe fractures in a tooth can expose the pulp to bacteria, leading to infection and inflammation. In such cases, root canal therapy is performed to remove the damaged pulp and restore the tooth's function.
In some cases, a tooth may become severely discolored or darkened due to trauma or certain medications. Root canal therapy can be performed to remove the damaged pulp, which can help improve the tooth's appearance.
Reasons for Root Canal Therapy
Nobody wants to get the news that they need a root canal. But if you do need one, it’s for good reason. When you don’t take care of a tooth infection, it can spread into your gums and your jawbone (not to mention the infection can also be extremely painful). Eventually, it can get so bad that the only solution left is a tooth extraction.
If you start to have a toothache, feel temperature sensitivity, notice changes in your gums (swelling, tenderness, bleeding, etc.), or see that your tooth has become darker or gray, please come to see us so we can determine if you need root canal therapy. Infection can start from a deep cavity, a crack or chip, large fillings, dental trauma, or repeated dental procedures.
What Is the Cost of a Root Canal?
The cost of root canals varies depending on which tooth is being treated, what type of restoration is used, and, of course, whether or not you are using insurance. For example, a root canal on a front tooth is the not the same price as a root canal on a back molar. Similarly, getting a porcelain and metal crown doesn’t cost the same as an all-porcelain crown. Once we’ve brought you in for an endodontic consultation and examined your case, we are happy to give you a cost estimate.
Even if you don't, having an attractive smile you love enough to admire as best as you can every time you have the opportunity suggests that there might be just one life that's a lot more fun with teeth that you are content to admire.

My insurance changed so I chose Green Tree Dental for its location and reviews, and thank goodness I found them because they are a gem. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, and it really feels like there's a focus on prevention and education over just getting bodies through the door. At first I was a little taken aback by how personable everyone was, remembering little details like previous conversations and when we will be back. But it feels nice to not feel so anonymous in a doctor's office. Looking forward to more years with this office! So glad I found them!
Went in to for an implant consultation. The staff was very friendly and professional as was the dentist. He was really informative and answered all my questions. They even laughed at my stupid jokes which made me feel even more at ease:) I was extremely happy with my visit
